Born in England and raised in an orphanage in Chicago until being taken in by a surrogate family, Al had a traumatic childhood throughout which he suffered many beatings particularly from his adoptive father undoubtedly helping to shape the dangerous killer he went on to become. While he was a selfish man who would kill innocents to save himself, Al also had a heart and would look out for those close to him with vicious loyalty but he expected equally ruthless loyalty in return, and would enact gruesome revenge on those who betrayed his moral code.
